Koniku is, in the company's own words, "merging synthetic neurobiology with silicon". Its co-processors are made of biological neurons, with DNA deciding which receptor each neuron carries, the way code decides what a computer produces.
The devices are built to detect what a nose would: particles of explosives, drugs or berries, for security, defence and agriculture, as the company lists its applications.
Three scales had to fit in one frame: a neuron, a chip and the corridor a person walks through. The identity was built to hold all three at once, and the rest was to follow from it. The technology would be told in the company's own terms, one mechanism at a time; the same in motion, so a film explains rather than impresses. For the security application the question was narrower: what does an operator need to see while people simply walk past, and what can the screen leave out.
Brand identity, website, two explainer films and the security application, delivered over eight months in three stages, on one system from the wordmark to the operator's screen. The website took a Lovie Gold in Corporate Communications and a Communication Arts Webpick.
Since then, on the public record: co-development with Airbus, begun in 2017 and expanded in 2022; an initial member of the Oracle Defense Ecosystem in 2025; $49M+ raised, seed to Series A, per Crunchbase News, Forbes Africa and PitchBook.
Osh Agabi, Founder, CEO and CTO, in his review: “Huge technical mastery. They have the boldness that matches our ambition.”
